I’m Not Yvonne Nelson

The news hit Yvonne Nelson like a ton of bricks. She recounts, “On an ordinary day, I would have laughed out loud, triggering a series of light-hearted conversations and jokes. But this was no laughing matter. It was a grim piece of information that had the potential to turn my world upside down. I wasn’t solely responsible for the situation, so I reached out to the man whose seed had taken root in me – Michael Owusu Addo, widely known as Sarkodie, a promising musician in Ghana.”

Yvonne Nelson explains that at the time, Sarkodie was a rising talent with the potential to become one of Ghana’s biggest artists. However, his future remained uncertain, and he was still navigating the challenges of life. Success was not guaranteed, and he was living with his mother, not yet ready to shoulder the responsibilities of fatherhood.

Describing their relationship as not particularly serious, Yvonne Nelson admits her attraction to individuals in the music industry. Music had always been her escape from the hardships of life, and she was drawn to Sarkodie’s talent. As they began talking and growing closer, the unexpected pregnancy shattered the fragile foundations of their connection.
