Akon

Akon is a Senegalese-American singer, songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur known for blending R&B, hip-hop, and Afrobeat influences into global hit music. Born Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam on April 16, 1973, in St. Louis, Missouri, he spent part of his childhood in Senegal before moving to the United States.

Akon rose to international fame in 2004 with his debut album Trouble, featuring hit songs like “Locked Up” and “Lonely.” He later released successful albums such as Konvicted and Freedom, producing chart-topping tracks including “Smack That,” “Don’t Matter,” and “Right Now (Na Na Na).”
