Rising Rap Sensation, Harmless Vid reveals Realities of Life in Jirapa, Upper West Region, Ghana
In an exclusive interview with popular entertainment blogger Zionfelix, fast-rising Ghanaian rapper Harmless Vid, also known as “Rap Gad,” opened up about his life and the challenges faced by the people in Jirapa, his hometown in the Upper West Region of Ghana.
During the interview, Harmless Vid showcased his talent with a short rap freestyle as requested by Zionfelix. As the conversation progressed, the rapper shed light on the cost of living in Jirapa, emphasizing that a budget of Gh100.00 could cover a person’s daily expenses, including fuel, food, water, and more.
Harmless Vid revealed that, in his case, Gh280 could fill his motorbike, sustaining him for approximately three days, depending on the extent of his movements. Discussing accommodation costs, he mentioned that a single-bedroom self-contained rental could start from Gh1800 for a year.
When asked about the local job market and salaries, Harmless Vid expressed concern about the widening gap between the rising cost of living and stagnant salaries. He disclosed that some individuals in Jirapa earn as low as Gh80 a month, with positions such as shop and bar attendance offering salaries ranging from Gh300 to Gh350.
The rapper mentioned that he is yet to hear of any place in the locality where the monthly wage exceeds Gh400.
